St. Mary, the Holy Theotokos, the Mother of God, is perhaps the most beloved and revered saint of all. Beginning on April 2, 1968, the apparition of St. Mary was seen at St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Zeitoun of Cairo, Egypt, over a period of two to three years. Bathed in bright light, St. Mary would appear rising in the air, hovering above the cathedral, and blessing the people below. Many consider her apparitions to be her “return” to Zeitoun, as Copts have traditionally claimed that Zeitoun was one of the places where the Holy Family stayed during the Flight to Egypt. St Mary is considered to be the patron saint of humanity, along with those who are seeking spiritual enlightenment.
